Oscar Picks

I still like going to the movies, despite all the streaming options that allow us to see film in our living rooms. I haven’t seen all the Oscar nominees for best pic this year. I did see A Star is Born, and am surprised its Oscar chances seem to have faded. I loved BlacKkKlansman. I will see Roma next week, when I stay with my friend Louise following her knee surgery. She has Netflix; I don’t. I haven’t seen The Favourite, although I like Olivia Colman a lot as an actress and admired her work in the BBC drama Broadchurch. I saw Vice, and thought Dick Cheney was bad enough the first time around. I didn’t see Black Panther or Green Book, and probably won’t. I loved Bohemian Rhapsody, even though I never followed Queen and had no idea who Freddy Mercury was.

My pics for the big three Oscars: BlacKkKlansman for Best Pic, Glenn Close for Best Actress, and Rami Malek for Best Actor. Of the three, I’m most in for Glenn Close. I thought her performance was brilliant.

Care to make your predictions ahead of the big night?
