Panama Day 7: Our Friendly Iguana

Iguanas are apparently territorial; our friend the iguana has been here in the yard for the past several years. There was actually a second one, so maybe they are a couple. 🙂

Iguanas are protected now, but back in the Peace Corps era Minga’s partner Roberto would occasionally come home from his day working the fields with a freshly killed one, which Minga would cook for dinner. There’s not much meat on the them; the part you eat is mainly the legs. No, iguana doesn’t taste like chicken. Iguana tastes like iguana, sort of lizard-y.
