On Christmas eve we’ll all be at Matt and Amy’s for her family tradition: Danish ebelskevers, which are small round fluffy pancakes that can be served plain, or with savory or sweet filling: jam, chocolate chips. diced bacon or ham, blueberries. Ebelskevers are served with syrup, and sides of bacon and sausages, and fresh fruit.
I’m sleeping over in Archie’s bunk bed, and Matt and Amy’s home is large enough for Sara and Ben to sleep over also and enjoy the kids’ excitement on Christmas morning. Matt makes breakfast. Later in the day, we’ll have Christmas dinner at Ben and Sara’s, with Ben’ s Swiss German family tradition of Raclette. Raclette is a Swiss cheese that melts over special small griddles in the center of the table. The soft, gooey, delicious cheese is served with boiled potatoes, pickles, various cured meats, and a good wine.
Merry Christmas to all of you. Wishing a moment of joy, peace and hope amidst our tumultuous times.
