Getting to Know Seattle: Ready for Fall

As you can tell from the number of posts I write about Green Lake, it’s one of my go-to brisk walking spots on a day I don’t feel like going to the gym. Twice around the lake just exceeds my 10,000 steps for the day and is a little over four miles. Takes about 90 minutes.

At the height of summer, this is where all the colorful kayaks and paddle boards and rowboats are lined up for rental. Now there is one rowboat out, for safety reasons I imagine. People in wetsuits still swim across the lake, even in September, and someone could theoretically need a rescue. The rest of the water equipment is safely stored away, ready for the onset of cool and rainy weather.

  1. for Katie: It really is … lovely wildlife around the lake, a safe and well maintained path, and lots of activity on the lake itself in warmer weather.
