There’s a ton of new building going on in Seattle, and many of the new apartment or condo buildings look depressingly the same. Here’s a short video that explains why.

Seattle is known for its lovely old neighborhoods of Craftsman homes, built during the 1920’s and 1930’s. But that’s not what we’re doing now. We’re doing fast, efficient, cost effective — and plain.

  1. for Katie: The new apartment and condo buildings really do not have a lot of character. One of my favorite corners, which had a bar that had been here forever, a cake shop since the 1960’s, an “antique” store filled with collectibles, gave way to yet another faceless steel and glass high rise. Sigh.
