I have an absolutely beautiful hydrangea out front and an even larger one in the back — both of which bloomed while I was away. This is what greeted me on Saturday morning, when it was light enough to see. When I got home in the wee hours of the morning, it had been too dark to appreciate the gorgeous color.

  1. Beautiful mix of colors! For hydrangeas in the pink-blue range you can often change colors by changing the acid/alkaline levels of the soil. Or sometimes it just happens. My biggest bush started out blue and now has more shades of pink – with no interference.

  2. These are beautiful. Hydrangeas are a favorite flower of mine. I like all colors..even white.

  3. for Phyllis: I have a huge one in the yard that is white/pale blue, but this smaller one is my favorite. The woman who is helping me with gardening explained that color has a lot to do with how acid/alkaline the soil is. I’m learning a lot about gardening — in Rochester I used Broccolo, and they did everything at a reasonable rate. Here, everything is so costly I find myself doing more and enjoying it. Lot to learn, though.

  4. for Joyce: Archie was here yesterday and cut two big blooms off the white one in the back yard for Mommy. 🙂

  5. for Louise: Will tell Sara. She loves that green door, and I’m happy I do too – because she was clear the green door stays come hell or high water. 🙂
