At first hearing it sounded as if the Thai boys stranded by flooding deep in a cave were within days of being rescued. Then things got more complicated. A Thai navy seal diver died trying to deliver oxygen to the trapped kids and their coach. Word came that the boys don’t know how to swim. The passage way out takes hours, largely underwater and in the dark and through tight passages — difficult even for experienced divers. Oxygen levels in the part of the cave where the kids are trapped are dropping. Rescuers are looking for a way to drill an escape tunnel from the surface into the place where the boys are gathered, so far without success. The boys now have food and water and contact with rescue divers, but the kids are cold and wet and weakening.
Not sounding good at all, even with divers from all over the world coming to help.
