Travel: Being Entertained

My sister and brother-in-law are great at entertaining. Ron makes great meals, and they indulge my nostalgia for visits to places as diverse as the upscale Moonstruck in Asbury Park and the decidedly down-market Stewart’s Root beer, where you eat a hot dog, fries, and root beer in a chilled mug from a tray attached to the side window of your car.

They are also thoughtful about seeing that I am attended to. Ron brings me a late afternoon glass of wine without my having to ask or having to get up from my poolside chair to go into the kitchen. That’s one of the things I miss about living alone: having someone to see that you want or need something, and simply bring it.

I’m perfectly capable of doing things on my own, but I love, absolutely love, being tended to for a week. 🙂
