Travel: Hot Dog Stand

Carts like this are where you get a hot dog fully loaded — sauerkraut, relish, onions, mustard — and they are all over the city. I came upon this one at 65th, near the entrance to the Central Park Zoo. This is where you see all the brown skinned nannies pushing expensive strollers with white children in them, on their way to the zoo. Not all the nannies are women of color. Some have blonde hair and speak Russian. The minders don’t just tend children. You also see them walking slowly with the frail elderly ladies pushing walkers who live along Central Park.

I wasn’t ready for lunch yet, so didn’t get a hot dog here.
