The great museums of Philadelphia are mostly clustered along Museum Row. We got there by our coach, driven by the fearless Mary Louise. She deftly ran this bus, which was as big as Mt. Rushmore, down the narrowest of Philly streets, and delivered us into the smallest of spaces to climb down to the street. Fearless woman — I loved her. She cleared a lot of the parked cars and trucks by inches.
The museum has quite a good Impressionist collection, and several rooms of Asian art, plus the requisite European and American modern. They currently have a traveling exhibit of contemporary Americana, which included clothing. I loved the black dress, which is of course circa 1920’s.
The view from the Museum, and of the Museum as you climb the “Rocky steps”, is quite spectacular.
