Regular blog readers may remember that I set a goal of getting my resting heart rate down below 50 beats per minute — a function of exercise and fitness. “Normal” for healthy adults is between 60 and 100 beats per minute. I was pretty regularly down around 50-52 BPM as measured by my Fitbit, but have had trouble getting below that.
Voila! I’m there, at least on some days — 48 or 49 BPM. I’d say the most accurate statement is that my range is now 48-51 BPM, which is improved over where it’s been for a long time.
I’m also, as my birthday approaches, at the same weight I was 2 years ago when I lost 30 pounds on Whole30 — a goal I set for my 71st birthday. I can celebrate keeping the goal intact on my 73rd.
I can’t stave off lots of things about aging, but I’m really happy with these numbers. And yes, I am a reflexively goal-setting person. 🙂
