Getting to Know Seattle: More Peaceful Things about Water

I wrote a blog post a bit ago about what I find peaceful about being near water. On my long walk on Saturday morning, after breakfast at the Crumpet Shop, I discovered two other things.

These water birds, ducks or whatever they are, are paddling furiously beneath the surface. But they are gliding along soundlessly and smoothly and calmly to the eye and ear. Watching them pass by is soothing.

So are the snow-capped peaks of the Olympic Mountains. The snow lasts well into the summer months. I think they are simply beautiful to the eye and as a backdrop to whatever is going on in Puget Sound.
