Panama 2018 Day 14: Our Friend the Iguana

Iguanas do not usually come this close to human habitats, but Gloria says they have become almost domesticated because they seem to know that hunting them is now prohibited. Back in the Peace Corps days, an iguana that came right up to Roberto and Minga’s house would have been decapitated with a machete and cooked for dinner. I ate iguana now and then. With so little protein available, an iguana was a good, free catch. Ours is sunning himself. He did move along when he sensed me taking his pic, but not fast. 🙂
