We have a regular lunch spot in El Valle. I often order ropa vieja, shredded beef, which comes with rice and beans and a small scoop of salad. I have a Panama light beer, from a green glass bottle. I don’t like to drink beer out of a can, so they send someone running down the street to the tienda to get me a bottled beer. They have to do that for diet Coke too — they only carry regular. I’ve gotten to know the owner over the years, and he is happy to see us come and very accommodating to our quirks.
The menu offerings are written on a board outside — Candy and Bob are deciding what they want to order while Sally and Michael hold down the fort at the outdoor table.
