Panama 2018 Day 7: Room for Angel

Minga’s home in the village is the center of family life, both figuratively and literally. Her eldest son, Angel, is building a space to the left of Minga’s house, attached, so that he has a place to stay when he comes from the city. Her youngest son Humberto lives in a similar structure on the other side of the house.

Angel’s siblings are all helping with the build. Construction is very simple, with no rebar or anything like that. They simply layer cinderblocks upon cinderblocks, throw on a roof, lay a concrete floor, and plaster the inside walls for appearance. Someone will install a bit of wiring, and they are good to go. One septic system serves the entire family. They will all use Minga’s kitchen.
