Lily En Route to Nicaragua

On her last day in Honduras Lily and her friends took the ferry back to the mainland from Roatan, and then made a visit to meet the twins’ mother. Paying respect to family members is a core Latino value. When I arrive in Panama, after the drive out to the villa, the first order of business is to go to the village and call on each member of Minga’s family. I see some more than others while I’m there, but the last thing I do before leaving is to make the rounds again. Not doing so would be unthinkable.

Lily is repeating that courtesy here.

Tomorrow: first pics of Nicaragua.

  1. for Katie: The value of family, and the respect paid, is a beautiful attribute — somewhat diminished in our culture, I’d say.
