  1. for Katie: We had them too, in Rochester. At one point a mother and her babies took up residence in our garage, and I had to call a professional to have them removed. The kids were little, and I was afraid they’d get between the mother and babies and she’d attack. Big raccoons used to regularly scour our garbage cans for treats, and they weren’t easily dissuaded. One night Jerry went out waving a broom to chase them away. They hissed and spit and snarled and didn’t move. He finally just came back in. Score one for the raccoons.
