Returning to Rochester: Mamasan’s

We ate out a lot as a family, both before and after Jerry died. We were regulars at Mamasan’s, a Vietnamese restaurant run by Be Walters and her husband Joe. We were regulars at Jeremiah’s, and at the Highland Park diner. Ben and Sara and I are going to make time to go to all three places while we’re here. We started with Mamasan’s. Be and Joe extended a warm welcome, and asked us to try to come back for lunch before we leave town.

  1. for Katie: thanks. This was the place where Jerry and I had our married life, raised our family, and where I have longstanding and deep friendships. It is nice to revisit all of that.

  2. for Mary: Remind me to tell you the story of Be inviting me to eat with her and her servers when I went to get take out right after Jerry died. The Klainer family has a long history with Be and her restaurant.
