Mary Ross is a primo good cook, which I first discovered at the Jersey shore when we were at St. Ann’s cottage with her aunt Sister Alice. Mary made all of us cioppino, and it was remarkably delicious.
On Friday evening Mary had the family over for dinner — I’m touched and honored to be at family dinner and shabbat dinner all at once — and she made salmon, again remarkably tasty. Emily has been turning out fabulous breakfasts, a clear demonstration of the old adage “like mother, like daughter”. Quite experientially appropriate, for a book weekend on the theme of mothers and daughters.
