On the way home from our exploration on Friday we passed a farm selling fresh eggs. Emily made a screeching U-turn and we got three dozen. Commercially sold eggs are screened for uniformity, so that what you see in a box of a dozen is consistent from one egg to the next. Not so with eggs gathered from currently laying hens. Mary is holding up one huge and one longer and skinny, with an appropriate look of incredulity on her face.
