Mary picked me up at the airport, and we went to her home for a glass of wine — husband Neil was still at work. Catching up with a dear friend over a glass of wine has to be one of life’s greatest pleasures. Mary and Emily have been to Panama twice, but I haven’t seen Neil and their son Danny — who teaches in a charter high school here — since my last trip to Minneapolis.
I’m staying with Emily and Dustin, and we went there once Emily had returned from work. This was my first chance to meet Emily’s fiance, and he’s a great guy. They have a wonderful new home, and I got the tour — which included the “wedding room” and a peek at Emily’s gorgeous traditional wedding dress.
Longtime blog readers know that Mary and Emily and I became friends about eight years ago, when I was at the Jersey shore with a group of women invited by Mary’s aunt, Sister Alice Lubin. Sister Alice was my English professor at the College of St. Elizabeth, and after my graduation she and I became friends as well as professor and former student.
Emily just made a great breakfast — more to come!
