For me, Trump is an immense aberration — intellectually lazy, thin-skinned, self-aggrandizing, a reality TV version of the U.S. presidency. He’s the antithesis of anything I think of when I hear the phrase “public service”. He’s the kind of person who isn’t supposed to win — better and more decent and more honest people are supposed to prevail in the end. And yet here we are.
I hoped that special elections to fill jobs that were once held by Republicans who now work in the Trump administration would show the country realizing the terrible mistake we made last November — even in solid red districts. But no — Republicans held the seat vacated by Rep. Mike Pompeo in Kansas.
I’m hugely disappointed.
