No pics here; they were too busy exploring. Singapore. You may remember that I have friends in Singapore, and that Sara and I were there a couple of years ago. The flight from Doha to Singapore is about 7 hours. Here’s Singapore’s online description of itself:
“Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial center with a tropical climate and multicultural population. Its colonial core centers on the Padang, a cricket field since the 1830s and now flanked by grand buildings such as City Hall, with its 18 Corinthian columns. In Singapore’s circa-1820 Chinatown stands the red-and-gold Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, said to house one of Buddha’s teeth.”
Singapore has great food, turned out in local neighborhoods that cater to the Chinese, Malays, and Indians that make up the bulk of the population.
After poking around the city, eating great food, and walking by the high end shops on the main drag, Sara and Ben decided to do a quick hop to Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia. Sara was there years ago, and Ben had never been — so off they went. Flight time: 55 minutes. You can also drive, although they chose the shorter option.
