Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, was on Fareed Zakaria’s GPS on Sunday morning. My but she’s a Kennedy, not a Bouvier — she looks like her aunts Eunice and Kathleen.
Caroline is 59, which is a staggering thought to those of us who watched her as a six year old standing by her mother and small brother next to her father’s casket after his November 1963 assassination.
She’s a highly competent and intelligent woman, although she lacks the natural political talents of the Kennedy clan. She may initial forays about running for the Senate in New York state while I lived there, but didn’t light any fires and soon dropped out of the race. She’s a lawyer, an author, a diplomat, mother of three grown and very interesting offspring. I’ll be curious to see what she does next.
